Each Sunday in church, I present a verse (or verses) to the congregation. The Pastor asked me to do this in an English teacher manner trying to help the congregation memorize the verse. I present it, teach what it means, and then go thru some memory exercises. Every three or four weeks, we move on to a new verse.
It's an exciting thing for me to do, and the Pastor has given me full autonomy in selecting verses. "Let the Spirit lead you," is his only instruction. I am certainly not equipped to teach the Bible as a pastor. His reasons for doing this...
1. He knows I love the Word of God.
2. I am not shy about public speaking. In fact, I used to teach public speaking.
3. It is good for other voices to be heard. He talks enough as Pastor.
I presented my new verse today for now thru Christmas.
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
- Isaiah 9:6
This was the promise of a Saviour by the prophet Isaiah approximately 700 years before Jesus was born. And His kingdom to come will be perfect and eternal. Follow Jesus and be there!
