Bible Verses - please share

I firmly believe God set a near impossible example through Christ, but he's more concerned with our honest effort and journey.

Absolutely. Living a life without sin is impossible.

It was (is) the same for the Jews. The Laws of Moses were so numerous they were impossible to fully obey. Salvation in Old Testament wasn't based on 100% adherence. It was based on trying to do so.

Jesus was the most amazing gift. We deserve hell. All of us. But His death paid the price for our sins. All we have to do is accept Him and live for Him to accept that gift. So simple. Yet, a vast majority piss it away.

We aren't Christ. We cannot work miracles. But we can lead by example - people forget how powerful that is (except those who ridicule it out of fear and self-loathing.) Tebow can be overbearing, but he lives up to his beliefs. Guys like Robin Williams were fatally flawed, but still managed to perform fairly large yet quiet acts of kindness.

Your words I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.

- Psalm 119:11

Reading and knowing Scriptures are vital. Just one of many reasons relying on a "father" for God's Word is a mistake.

You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him,
and keep His commandments and obey His voice;
you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.

- Deuteronomy 13:4

Such a great OT verse. Notice the six command verbs telling us what we must do:

WALK with God
FEAR God
KEEP His Word
OBEY God
SERVE God
HOLD on to God

Luke 16:23-24: "In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’"

Too often, we only think about our own comforts.

If those verses don't scare a person, nothing will. Dude lived the good life for what he thought was a long time. Reduced to pleading for a drop of water because his suffering was so bad for ETERNITY.

That's kind of a long long time.

Scary.

I love the words in red. So much good stuff in there. I'm preaching on the Parable of the Good Samaritan in two weeks. Must not have been too bad the first time because they are allowing me another sermon.😂

Drop an N-bomb during the sermon.

Deuteronomy 28: 52-67

52 And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the Lord thy God hath given thee.53 And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the Lord thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:54 So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:55 So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.56 The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,57 And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.58 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, The Lord Thy God;59 Then the Lord will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.60 Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the Lord bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.62 And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the Lord thy God.63 And it shall come to pass, that as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the Lord will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.64 And the Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.65 And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the Lord shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:66 And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:67 In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.68 And the Lord shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.

Long one, so excuse the copy and paste. Romans 3: 9-26. Martin Luther would later go on to say that this was the chief point of the Bible, and he has a point.

9 What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin.
10 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one;
11 there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”
13 “Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.”“The poison of vipers is on their lips.”
14 “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 ruin and misery mark their ways,
17 and the way of peace they do not know.”
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.
20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile,
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—
26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

Not a verse, but a very simple way to look at God's grace

The nameless thief on the cross is on my short list of people I most want to meet in heaven. Despite his low station in life, he may be responsible for more salvations than any other flawed human in history. His example shows us all that our past sins do not matter one bit IF our heart is new with Jesus.

Great post!

And he blows out of the water all the bullshit manmade tradition created by supposed holy churches. Salvation is not thru "the church" or baptism. ESPECIALLY infant baptism which is an abomination.

Not too sure about that. It is symbolic of original sin, and how it is cleansed when you give yourself over to Christ. As a ceremony, it renews faith in that you can be a sinner, but salvation is there. First Communion and Confirmation? I see those as control / church dogma.

I am a HUGE fan of baptism. As was Jesus. We should be baptised immediately after accepting Jesus in our hearts. But salvation does not hinge on it.

Infant baptism? Blasphemy.

Communion? Great ceremonial remembrance of Jesus. No diddler has the power to turn a wafer into the literal body of Christ. Pure Roman garbage.

"When they have finished their testimony, the beast will attack them, overpower and kill them. Their bodies will lie in the public square ... and the inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts."

Revelation 11: 7-10
