AFC Championship Game Pats @Donkeys News/Discussion

Allow has nothing to do with it.

And your constant underrating of the team, in the context of an entire league that's been down this season, hasn't stopped the team from getting to the AFCCG.
He's our balance with the Football Gods!

@captain stone - keep bitching, denigrating, and cussing!

I was truly thinking this earlier. Maybe he knows they are good, but is superstitious and believes if he remains negative they will keep winning. So keep bringing it! Shit is working.

It's why I am dropping out of the Playoffs Survivor contest. Idonot bet on the Patriots. Ever.

I love having the Captain here. But there's no doubt that he's run straight into the wall that is the reality of this season where pretty much every "good" team went into decline, making the "bad"/"mediocre" teams much more viable as contenders, especially in the AFC.

Chiefs - shit the bed
Ravens - shit the bed
Bengals - shit the bed
Chargers - The loss of the tackles kept them from becoming what people thought they might be
Bills - showed more decline than even most of the critics expected

The carnage was not quite as bad in the NFC because there were more good teams there and not every one of them fell off a cliff, but there was plenty of it there, too.

Am I the only person here who doesn't like Hollins? He's a nice WR3 who gets treated liked a WR1 in the game plan.
This guy saying the same thing:

Mack Hollins has been an awesome surprise for this team both as a culture setter and as a viable bigger receiver in this offense. He also had arguably one of the plays of the day yesterday with the outstretched leaping grab.

With that said it's worth noting that over the last 3 weeks he's been targeted 18 times for a grand total of 94 yards. In that same span Diggs, Douglas, Williams, and Boutte have combined for 24 targets for 288 yards.

For a passing game as explosive as the Patriots have been at times he's been getting close to #1 type volume over the back half of the season after being a once or twice a game type target for the first 7 weeks of the season
. This is someone who has never had 400 yards in a non-Josh McDaniels offense. He's been our most targeted wide receiver since week 9.

Granted Hollins plays in 12, 22, 21 and 13 personnel sets which juices his snap counts and makes him run more routes. Still, it feels like we need to focus on getting some passes to more dynamic players in the passing game even on shorter routes.

Maye likes to go deep, and Hollins has the height to facilitate that even when covered, so Hollins gets an outsized role. Also, the lack of a truly viable and impactful slotWR means that the team needs to go outside more than it otherwise might, which means more throwing to Hollins and Boutte.

And there's also his run blocking...

I'd rather Boutte see the majority of deep balls over Hollins.

Hollins is more of an intermediate guy anyway. He's also one of the few receivers who had playoff experience prior to this season and actually played in an AFCCG and a good leader.
