Everyone disses Shanahan, but he had excellent offensive gameplans in 2016 with the Falcons. They were basically unstoppable. That 2016 Patriots defense was incredibly good and they allowed 28 points thru three quarters. Shanahan basically pants’d Patricia and Belichick. The collapse happened but let’s not act like he had a poor strategy. I’ve argued many times the plays down the stretch weren’t his fault. Whiffed block by Freeman. Horrible sack taken by Ryan (center couldn’t block Flowers as innury took its toll.). The players collapsed.
Two wins with SF in 2019. Called excellent game versus Chiefs. One TD robbed with Kittle OPI. Garoppolo played like a moron down the stretch, missing wide open Kittle, missing Samuel.
Only other loss was with a practice squad QB last year.
I think Shanahan’s bad big game reputation is completely unfounded. As long as he has a good QB and weapons, he’s going to maximize advantages.
