A powerful explosion tore through a fireworks facility in Yolo County on Tuesday evening, unleashing a firestorm that lit up the skies over the small town of Esparto, California. Flames, thick smoke, and live fireworks shot into the air in a chaotic, fiery display that could be seen for miles.
Fire crews with Cal Fire were dispatched urgently just before 6 PM when the blaze ignited along County Road 23. As they arrived on the scene, responders were met with a towering column of black smoke rising ominously over Esparto—a sight that residents in nearby northern Solano County also reported witnessing.
The Yolo County Office of Emergency Services confirmed the fire involved a fireworks facility and acknowledged receiving numerous calls about explosions in the area. While the exact cause remains unclear, authorities have launched a full investigation to uncover what triggered the incident.
Adding to the surreal scene, a chilling video circulated on X (formerly Twitter), capturing fireworks shooting uncontrollably across the landscape. The footage, which quickly gained attention, was captioned: “Fireworks facilities (based in S.F.), in Esparto CA spraying fireworks for a 1/2 mile radius…”
Fireworks Factory Explosion In India's Sivakasi
A similar incident occurred in India's Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu. The region, which supplies nearly 90% of the fireworks and pyrotechnics in India, has nearly 1,100, of Tamil Nadu's 1500 fireworks factory.At least eight people were killed in the incident and several others were injured. It is still not known how the fire started at the factory.

on new years thai people go up and down the beach selling fireworks to tourists.. and i mean fucking BIG fireworks, like those 2+ feet tall round cyclinders that shoot a coconut sized charge into the air and explode into those massive umbrella displays, etc
i spent hours haggling and acquiring a massive stockpile of fireworks to set them up on beach and do a firework show,, I still remember a mom coming up to me (around 25 and drunk at the time), asking if I knew what i was doing... and i assured her I did in fact know what i was doing
spent a lot of time lining them all up, digging holes, etc to secure them
when it was time for the show, i just started going down the line setting them off, and i was about 75% of the way thru the line and one of the "smaller" fireworks just exploded right next to my head... my ears were ringing and i was burned on the side of my face
and that was one of the smaller ones... it really shook me, i realized that if one of those larger ones had misfired like that i would 100% be dead. wasnt thinking of the fact that they were cheaply made chinese fireworks, which is also why they were so cheap
the show was pretty awesome tho, had thousands of people cheering and applauding, not realizing how serious it almost got haha.. i actually have a video of it but the camera briefly goes into the air when it explodes on me, but you can see the sparks, etc fly up into view when it happened and hear it, and hear some gasps from the audience
im totally over fireworks now... they're basically pretty explosives
