If you’re taking into account impact to the sport, you can’t really do anything but agree with Deus about Ruth here. I think he underrates Jordan for the same reason (or perhaps because he considers someone else the GOAT), but I can see his arguments.

Outside of taking the game more above the rim, which other players coming were bound to do (think Len "Imma gon' choose one night of cocaine over a lifetime of basketball excellence" Bias), Jordan mostly just added on to what Bird & Magic built. Brady won in his first year with another football team (had never been done before), and actually has more league titles than does Jordan. Brady has 3 separate HOF careers, including one where he goes deep into his 40's.

And no way does Jordan get above Woods, Gretzky, Ali or Ruth.
