Any chance he gets one last fresh chance with the new regime?

Not asking if you want it to happen. Do you think it could happen?

Sure as a QB competition

I don't see it happening if the teams goes QB with that first pick, because I imagine the team will want to clear the decks if that happens. If the team goes WR or some other non-QB spot, though, I don't see any need to cut the cord with Jones just for the sake of doing it. They might think there is one, and it would be understandable if they did, but I don't see any absolute bar to if, as long as Jones is willing to give it another go.

I'd say there's a decent chance he's on the team. Cutting him is an option but it carries a dead cap # of 5-ish million. What's his trade value, 5th or 6th rounder at best? Maybe they can move him and pay some of his salary if they want to add a vet and draft a QB this year.

I feel like he will be given another chance. Kraft will want to do everything he can to prove BB was the main issue. I hope what ever the Krafts decide works out and we can get back to winning but we shall see.

I was thinking that could be a possibility too. Not excited about it, but not implausible.

No stock into Mayo basically saying we’re going after a QB in the draft?
So what if they do? That doesn't make him the starter. They'll sell Mac that he's there to develop him or something. I will say you can kiss a veteran goodbye though. It will be Jones/Zappe/New Guy, if they take QB.

I think that’s going to be Zappe. Mac is ruined here. Trade him for picks.
Kontra, this is the thing- Yes. That's what you do. You should have traded him after 2022 ffs. But I'm not sure that's where the Kraft Ownership Group is. I think he's their draft pick. I think they made Belichick keep him. And I think there was no coincidence he was at the press conference, and I think he's your anointed starter next year.

Wild that a man as successful as Kraft doesn’t know what the sunk cost fallacy is.

That is exactly my fear. His dopey ass being at the press conference was notable. Bill saw enough after year 2 to get rid of him. Grandpa Hand Job and his Wonder Son know better though.

There's a reason he hasn't handled day-to-day with Kraft Group in several years. It's not even really sunk-cost fallacy. He's emotionally invested in the QBs. He thinks they're his kids. He's like the guy yelling at me yesterday for saying Mac Jones has no leverage.
