NFL Breaking News Jerod Mayo fired

Relevant Breaking News
Mayo said he sees color, after all

decided to ditch the white kid who was doing a great job calling plays for the team and had them as a top 10 unit, so he could give the job to his black brother from another mother who turned it into a bottom 5 defensive unit

i gotta change my name... used to be a huge fan of Mayo, now im disgusted by him

Depending on how you feel about drake's future prospects, you could just change the "o" to an "e".

So he had very little experience, had no plan for anything, and didn't put in the work to set an example for the team. Fuckin A

but they had a basketball hoop in the locker room

so theres that....

Having read this, it seems as if Mayo might have survived if he'd just kept Steve Belichick, as that would probably have been enough for a couple more wins than they were able to scrape up with the incompetent Covington at the defensive helm.

Also, while I've noted that Van Pelt seems to have done his main job (develop Maye) better than the other coaches did there, it might also have helped Mayo keep his job if Kraft hadn't gone the cheap route, and had actually paid Nick Caley enough for him to take the gig.

@Deus Irae
was the salary the issue w/caley?
I think I said on here before I didn't really care that he had 4 wins this year. my problem was how I saw the situations a head coach should be handling handled by him.

That was the reporting I heard, though to be fair, the reporting was also that the contract offer was a very nice one. And there was some reporting that it might have just been Caley loving his time in L.A.. And, looking back at my post, it was probably unfair to use the word "cheap". My point was just that, if Kraft was that worried about Mayo needing the tools, he could have overwhelmed Caley with whatever it took to get him to sign.

There's also the very real possibility that Nick, and others, including free agents simply talked with the staff and Mayo and were like.. Thanks for the offer I'm going to decline... regardless of money. We heard a bit of that during free agency last year and even early in the season with trade rumors. However true it was I really hope it gets corrected through this building period.

I'd love to know where all the fucking nepotism people are now that Mayo refused to hire a coach with more than twice the experience he himself has let alone the person he chose. meanwhile steve has called defensive plays. mayo put his buddy ahead of steve on the depth chart probably because of their races.

Here I am.

Just because I didn't want any more Belichicks on the coaching staff doesn't mean I wanted the little WR from Samford as our DC either.
