Fearing God always confused me. He loves us, and wants us to succeed. He gave us the ability to learn and reason, a curiosity that has driven us to uncover many mysteries of the universe, and a conscience to help guide us through our days. Why would He want to make us fear him?

Great question!

I gave a mini sermon on this a while back. Fear of God is the ONLY fear we should have in our lives. However, the word used for that type of fear is best translated as "reverent awe" or the dire seriousness and consequences of not obeying God. Eternal damnation should be the scariest thought for any man. Eternal? Longer than forever. And hell? It sounds worse than horrible.

But all the teachings about talking to God and praying to God say nothing about fearing Him. We should be completely honest in pouring our hearts out. It's all love from Him when we are communicating in faith. Even Jesus cried out in an accusatory manner, Why have You forsaken Me?

We shouldn't ever "shaking in our boots" fear Him. We should fear the consequences of denying Him.

Great question!

Here's one that tripped me up.

Did you know Delilah did NOT cut Samson's hair?

Judges 16:19. She had another man do it.

Back on topic....

The sbortest verse in the Bible is John 11:35.

Jesus wept.

Might want to change the forum name and shift the religious threads in the PoFo thread over here, too, then.

I shifted several. Not sure about the forum name, that's Kontra's call. I'm just hijacking a dead forum so I don't overwhelm the Pofo with all this.
