Probably not. I know it’s an anthology but I think once a show had had a dogshit season (S2, and dogshit is being kind), it never really gets back to greatness. I did try S3 and it was decent but didn’t get there.

I’ll give it a shot. I finished S3. It was decent. That show made the error of having one of the greatest seasons in TV history in its first season. Everything else was guaranteed to go downhill from there.

Looking forward to Severance S2. That’s prob my favorite right now. Still waiting for another must-see with Succession finished.
So it’s worth getting Apple TV for? I usually like to switch between streaming services so I’m not paying more than I would for cable. I can cancel Paramount + and Peacock and pick that up.

Couldn’t sleep so watched Oppenheimer.
That’s the last time I’m watching a Christopher Nolan movie. I hate his style so much. So much constant tension and drama over mundane things. Way too long. You can’t substitute for a compelling story with unending tense music and dozens and dozens of dramatic peaks. He makes these movies all about his signature directing and nothing else.

Even considering that I enjoyed it, he shouldn’t do a biopic anymore. I understand Oppenheimer’s story needed to be told to those unfamiliar with history, but it’s not Nolan’s style. He needs to get back to his roots. I.E., when he did moves like “Insomnia” (his best, IMO) and “Inception.” Insomnia told a multi-layered story and was anchored by two excellent actors in Pacino and Robin Williams and a great lead actress. The setting was awesome and the tension builds naturally through the story until a violent crescendo. A+ stuff from him.
His stuff lately has not been as good. I thought “Tenet” was absolute garbage. I could follow along in Inception because it was such a cool concept that also had its own multi-layered story (the mission and Cobb’s past life still haunting him) and told you what was going on throughout with the use of well-written dialogue. Tenet was confusing for the sake of being confusing. Just complete trash.
Oh, and don’t bother with the new season of “True Detective.” There were parts when I laughed out loud at Jodie Foster in that role, and I turned it off before even finishing EP1.

I liked Nolan’s early stuff a lot. He just tries too hard to make it a “Nolan” movie. With both Dunkirk and Oppenheimer he had these massive historic events with huge scales and spent 3 hours dicking around with thin characters, piano sonatas, and random camera tricks.
Good to know about TD thanks. I just don’t think these shows ever really come back after a flop. They try even harder to make it perfect like in the beginning and it’s usually forced. Fargo went further off the deep end in S5 than S4.
With TD, they’re leaning into the supernatural. The last scene I saw was Jodie Foster’s character got a push alert and some guy asks if it’s a Tinder match. It’s not. Both of her fantasy football RBs are on IR and her starting WR is “a real klutz.” I gut laughed and turned it off immediately.

Dirty John on Netflix is quite good so far.
Eric Bana is a great actor. He absolutely nails the pathologically lying, charming, self victimizing narcopath.
Best way I can describe why he’s so compelling. Narcopaths fake everything including emotions. They become so great at it that they exceed what others are able to get for sympathy and compassion. So your brain is tricked into thinking they are the most authentic of all people when in fact they’re the least. Connie Britton is also outstanding as the supportive manipulated partner who essentially knows she’s being scammed but becomes powerless to step away in hopes he will change.

I am going to start Yellowstone, haven't watched it yet. YouTube TV has it in 4K so should look very niice
I made it to the halfway point of last season and stopped. I just didn’t get it anymore and there was very little in the way of character development.
