Bill Belichick Secures Record-Breaking NCAA Quarterback To Complete UNC’s QB Room Overhaul
The Tar Heels can make noise next season.
Bill Belichick has something to celebrate, and it’s not exactly
Valentine’s Day with Jordon Hudson. The North Carolina Tar Heels head coach prepares for his second season in college football, and the team he is putting together looks very promising.
Nearly a month after they secured
LSU running back Kaleb Johnson (who spent three seasons with the Tigers), the team added another offensive weapon. After three quarterbacks, including last year’s starter Gio Lopez, exited the program, UNC brought in four new playmakers.
Billy Edwards Jr. (Wisconsin) and Miles O’Neill (Texas A&M) transferred to the Tar Heels after seeing limited action in 2025. Travis Burgess, a three-star recruit out of Georgia, committed to the team after considering NC State and Auburn.
Bill Belichick’s Tar Heels Add Fourth Quarterback Ahead of 2026 Season
Taron Dickens became the fourth signal caller to join the team. The former Western Carolina quarterback joined out of the transfer portal,
On3 reported on Sunday.
He comes off a 2025 season with 3,508 yards, 38 touchdowns, two interceptions and a 74.2% completion percentage. Dickens can use his legs, too, as he added 321 yards rushing and a touchdown. His sophomore season was historical, too. He completed 46 consecutive passes against Wofford in October, setting an
NCAA record.
Dickens finished 53 of 56 for 378 yards that day. He will likely compete for QB1 under Bill Belichick, but the expectations are high for the former Catamounts player.
