One of my favorite verses in Scriptures is Jeremiah 15:16

Your words were found, and I ate them,
And Your Word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart;

God's word is how you listen to God...how you can have a healthy relationship with God.

For context, Jeremiah was one of God's loyal prophets. But he was a prophet in troubling times. The people of Judah did not want to hear from him. Even worse, Jeremiah faced hardship, death threats, assault. Where did he turn for comfort? God's word.

Like Jeremiah, we must anchor ourselves in God's word for strength in adversity. We must immerse ourselves in Scripture to truly walk with the Lord.

God's words are nourishment to our spirit. God's words sustain our souls.

Further evidence that God's word, not food, is the true sustenance. None of us have or will suffer like Job. It was God's word (and obedience to God's word) that sustained Job. There is no safer place to be than attached to God.

I have not departed from the commandment of His lips;
I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.

-Job 23:12
