that would have been a cool ass way to go into retirement instead of finishing 8-9 snd 1 and done in the playoffs. starting for your childhood favorite team in the sb would be like going to your 20 year reunion and finding out that person you were crushing on is:
a) still hotttttt
b)was always into you but is now grown up enough to be their own person and not always go with the crowd on who to date and wants to make up for lost time with you now. like N-O-W. like, "i'm in town for a night and have a room right around the corner" now.

Russell gets dismissed (correctly in my opinion) because he played on a virtual all star team in a 10 team league. Its relevancy to modern NBA is the equivalent of the run-heavy 50's NFL to modern NFL.
