The Bills' star quarterback turned the ball over four times, including two interceptions and two fumbles at Empower Field. After the loss, the Bills decided to fire their head coach, Sean McDermott. When speaking with the media, Allen admitted he feels partially responsible for McDermott's fate and the team being at home for the Super Bowl.

Here's my reasoning:
mcdermott got fired right after the denver game. he's saying if he'd made one more play in the Denver game McDermott wouldn't have been fired and they would have been getting ready to play the next game which is the truth. they wouldn't have fired him after the Denver game if they had won it.
After studying italian for so long, I can tell you that this type of vagueness is part of the english language and is not part of a lot of other languages like italian where the usage of their verbs is much more precise in telling you the exact sequence of time in which things happened.

I see what you're saying. I'm reading it that when he says "right now", he means currently getting ready to play again. The writer felt the same way. But it is kind of a confusing statement.
