Drake Maye’s completion-record stat for the Patriots was awesome but narratively I got a little curious after seeing it everywhere.

An awesome stat for Drake Maye by itself and comparatively, but 2 out of 3 of the games Brady’s completion % is being compared, he had 35 attempts.
Basically 1/3rd more the volume.

Good ole’ Tom.

Tennessee played more two high than our previous opponents, and as expected, this opened things up for the run game and we ran the ball down their throat. OL has been solid in run blocking this season with the exception of the Saints game. Nothing to worry about.
This is true, teams have been daring Maye to beat them deep in single high looks, and stacking the box.. and Maye has torched them. Some of the CLNS crew as talking about it, wondering when teams are going to change up and play more cover-3 and 2, try to keep things short-middle depth. The only problem with that is Maye kills that stuff too with his accuracy, and that's actually the strength of our pass-catchers. I don't think anyone thought Maye would be launching bombs with this group, but it has worked because the offense has jelled nicely. More consistency from the IOL and they will be hard to stop.

Completion percentage is at least, in part a team stat. It's obviously good to be that far up there but I'd gladly take a few more throwaway's instead of sacks. Add in the runs where he gets hit/tackled and that's definitely more contact than i want Maye taking long-term. This is the sack numbers for this season so far.

thats a crazy stat, especially considering all the close games they've had where the running game was still very much a factor

Also due in no small part to the ease in which opponents have passed the ball against us whenever their protection allowed, because 1) our Safeties room is the Worst in football; 2) Carlton the Doorman Davis; and 3) our LBs besides Marty McPoo (maybe) can't cover anyone.
