Bledsoe gets too much praise.
He had all the physical talent but no signs of drive and being a true student of the game. Got by on physical skills while staring down and throwing to a TE being triple covered. A statue in the pocket but it was always the OL fault according to simplistic fans. Rewatch the 2001 AFCCG and recall the couple of ill fated throws that almost pissed that game away.
Bledsoe was fine but Top 40? I don't think so. He was the perfect tease. Talented enough to be decent, but never improved on that.
He was upset that he didn't get his job back? For a 6th rounder? And we praise him for not being too petulant about it? Screw that. I thought we celebrated meritocracy. Bledsoe sucked in 2000 and sucked in the first games of 2001. Brady was the better QB, and it was obvious. Maybe if Bledsoe worked on his craft and obsessed over being an elite QB, he would have earned his job back.
Parcells and Bledsoe salvaged the franchise. Fine. Wonderful. They served an important purpose. Let's not hoist either one on too high a pedestal. One was an excellent coach who tanked a SB. The other was an average QB with a big arm.
