Isaiah Buggs was once a rising force on the football field, holding the line for NFL teams like the Steelers, Lions, and most recently, the Kansas City Chiefs. But his offseason took a sharp and unexpected turn when he was entangled in legal trouble back in Alabama.

In July 2024, a Tuscaloosa County court sentenced Buggs to one year of hard labor for mistreating two dogs. The court ordered him to serve 60 days in jail and suspended the remaining sentence for two years, based on good behavior. The ruling followed a troubling scene reported by local authorities, who discovered a pitbull left without food or water in unsanitary conditions and a second dog, a black Rottweiler mix, locked in a metal cage under the sun.

Despite the severity of the initial sentence, Buggs’ legal team continued to fight the allegations. On Wednesday, the Tuscaloosa County District Attorney’s Office dismissed the charges with prejudice. According to Buggs’ attorney Greg Gambril, new evidence surfaced that cleared his client of wrongdoing. Gambril told The Athletic that the state of Alabama acknowledged the evidence and chose to drop the case for good.
“We are grateful to the Tuscaloosa County District Attorney’s Office for its careful review of the facts and evidence and for working toward a fair and just outcome,” Buggs said in a statement. “I am focused on moving forward and continuing my football career.”
Buggs turned himself in on May 30 after authorities charged him with two misdemeanor counts of second-degree animal cruelty. Police later arrested him again in June following a separate incident involving the mother of his child. Police reports, cited by TMZ, claim Buggs broke into her home with a tire iron and dragged her down a flight of stairs, causing visible injuries. Authorities arrested him in a Little Caesars parking lot shortly afterward.
The Chiefs released Buggs on June 24, just eight days after his second arrest. At the time, he was under a $1.29 million contract for the upcoming season. As of now, his future in the NFL remains uncertain, but he says he’s ready to turn the page.

According to TMZ, a lawsuit was filed by a Jane Doe in Nevada on Sunday and alleges that “Sharpe brutally sexually assaulted her several times at the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 — following a yearslong, abusive relationship.”
The suit notes that Sharpe met the complainant, who was 20 years old at the time, at a gym in Los Angeles back in 2023 and offered to “buy her fake t**s” if she won a weight loss competition with him.
She says he “pursued her relentlessly” over the phone, demanding she come to his mansion in Beverly Glen. They eventually got into a consensual relationship, but then Sharpe became controlling and verbally abusive.

“He demanded complete control over her time and body,” attorney Tony Buzbee wrote in the suit, “expecting her to be at his house on his schedule, at his command, whenever he called.”
Doe said that there was one time they argued, and he was yelling at her while a firearm was visible in the room.
It’s said that he threatened to kill her another time.

A second incident in January of this year saw the ESPN analyst and podcast host allegedly perform another sexual assault when he came over to her place after promising to drop off a Christmas and birthday present.
“It takes a great deal of courage to stand up against those with power, fame and money,” Buzbee added. “I look forward to pressing this case in court.”

He’s said to have told her that she did not have a choice and demanded that they speak in private, threatening her to get into his car and then driving to her apartment.
