Food and Recipe's

I'm looking for the video, but Sorted Food (youtube, British group of mates) did a sourdough / brie / cranberry sause (the coulis style, not the canned jelly) with some sage and mulled wine. Hollow out the sourdough, trim the brie and put it in, top with the sauce/mulled win, bake until the brie is runny.

Looked amazing.

I just put it there for people who still like to do it on the stove top. I have one that I just use in the microwave that works perfectly.

My little pan and insert are 3 days older than dirt. My mother used it when we were growing up.

Course: Appetizer

Cuisine: American

Servings: 10

Calories: 276 kcal

Ingredients

  • 1/3 lb. corned beef or deli pastrami, cut into thin strips
  • 5 1oz slices Swiss cheese, cut into thin strips
  • 2 cups sauerkraut, drained and squeezed dry
  • 10 egg roll wrappers
  • Thousand Island Dressing for dipping
  • Canola Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Heat at least 2 inches of canola oil in a deef fryer (or heavy dutch oven) to 375 degrees F.(see notes for baking option)
  • Lay out an egg roll wrapper (so it looks like a diamond) on a clean surface then use your finger to brush all the outside edges of the wrapper with water. Place a few strips of corned beef in the center of the egg roll wrapper, top it with a few strips of swiss cheese and a tablespoon of sauerkraut.
  • Fold the bottom corner of the egg roll wrapper up and over the filling, then fold the left and right sides of the wrapper towards the center, and then roll the filling over itself until the egg roll is completely sealed. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  • Fry each egg roll for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown. Carefully remove from oil and let drain on a paper towel lined plate. Serve warm with a side of dressing for dipping. Enjoy!

Notes

I highly recommend frying these egg rolls, but if you prefer to bake them you can. Lightly coat a baking sheet with cooking spray, place egg rolls seam-side down and spray tops with more cooking spray. Bake at 425 degrees F. for 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

or you could go to costco and buy their already cooked bacon and microwave it. fast, easy, tasty.
This way you can not only cook the bacon, the bacon grease will make a delicious smelling gel for your hair.

I don't like pre-cooked. I like my bacon pretty close to raw. Tough to get bacon cooked correctly at restaurants for me. It's almost always overcooked.

i agree i do NOT like "too cooked" bacon.

There is a stage where the bacon fat is still there, has some bite ... that's perfection for me.

I might give that a shot on Sunday. I just bought a huge amount of mushrooms and that looks like a good way to use some of them up.

Only things I would change - much less salt (can't have the sodium), and I would cook the onions and mushrooms in separate pans, combining them when they onions start to get color (onions need the time, as do the mushrooms). cooking the chicken in the other pan.

But, damn it looks good. Probably good with shrimp, beef, or pork as well.
