Mayo had even less experience than Steve did when he joined the patriots. Steve had been coaching with the patriots for 11 years by the time he left. I would think giving mayo the DC job with absolutely no experience would be worse than giving Steve the job .he gave neither one of them the job.I would say that's kind of like hard ass towards his son.

Whether you think he was a mediocre head coach or not (i disagree w/ you there),he did pay his dues as an assistant for many many years. do you really think if he were shitty he would have stayed coaching in the NFL that long? that seldom happens.
I would hope that he judged Steve's coaching ability on the time he spent with him breaking down film and everything before he even brought him onto the staff with the patriots such that he would not have to be put in the position to have to fire him. but if steve deserves to be fired and bill doesn't fire him then i will lose respect for him.
