They stole signs, which was legal. They just did it in a particular manner, and that's the part that the league had told them to stop. It was mostly nothing, but it did ruffle some feathers, probably because they were winning so much and it served as both an excuse for losses and a way to get revenge against a dominant opponent.

Remember, they suffered the most severe punishment in league history for it, and some people were still crying and claiming that it wasn't enough. Meanwhile, the Broncos literally cheated the salary cap by paying guys illegally, which may have helped them with their SB wins in the 90s, but that has been all but forgotten.

Filming of signs was legal, right? But not from where they filmed them?

I also understand the "rules" regarding where you could film from was based on a Goodell memo, not an actual Rules Committee rule. And Belichick, rightfully, said "this moron can't unilaterally create and impose rules".

You know, i'm watching the n f l live from the day that they found out that belichick wasn't going to be in the hall of fame.And it strikes me as funny hearing all of them give the correct position that it's absolute bullshit when it was espn (among others)that pushed all the bullshit narratives about what cameragate and ballghazi were to begin with. schefter gets an exemption because I think he was always team patriots on both of those.
