A historic run in Pittsburgh is finally over.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has stepped down as the team’s head coach, per multiple reports, after a first-round playoff home loss to the Texans on Monday night extended the franchise’s drought to nine years without a postseason win.
Tomlin, 53, never produced a losing season in 19 years and won a Super Bowl during the 2008 season, but the franchise has lost six straight playoff games since its last postseason win in 2017.

crazy my life after graduating HS had Tomlin and Harbaugh in the AFC North the whole time
Now both out

3 out of 4 gone in the AFCN, and the 4th one should have been sent off, too.

I think there is absolutely no way in hell he stepped down.He was probably told that he could save face by stepping down. I still remember when bruce arians "retired" only to pop up somewhere else pretty quickly.

If this was not a totally voluntary resignation, then the Squealers did him a little dirty by stopping him short of 20 years And 200 wins.

Tomlin was a pretty bizarre hire in 2007, but he ended up surviving for 19 years.

Trading Pickens, just to turn around a trade for DK Metcalf was a GM blunder. Should've at least kept both for Rodgers even though his reaction time the last two years has been awful. He flat out doesn't want to throw the ball. Now they are stuck with Metcalf with no QB as I see Rodgers retiring or cut.

I could see Robert Saleh as their next HC.

All of whom were failures as HCs.
BB by far had the worst coaching tree. Bill O'Brien had moderate success and looks like a HOF'er compared to the other duds that came from NE. Vrabel doesn't count because he was only a player under Bill and never on his staff. He also has a completely different coaching philosophy and scheme. The coaching tree he came from would be O'Brien's. That would be like saying Kevin O'Connell comes from the BB coaching tree, but he is from the Shanahan tree.
