Ten prison guards in New York were charged Wednesday in connection with the fatal beating last month of a 22-year-old inmate, with two being charged with murder.

Prisoners who were interviewed said several guards severely beat fellow inmate Messiah Nantwi at the Mid-State Correctional Facility in upstate New York.

The March 1 beating sent Nantwi to a hospital where he died....

Every officer who was there needs to be fired. Some for the actions, some for not stopping the actions.

It's good that the primary bad actor was fired, but the others there should also have been disciplined. I hope the woman has hired an attorney to deal with this.

All of them should be arrested IMHO. Nothing but thugs. Not a single good cop in the bunch. It says a lot about the culture there.

This is as much about the accuser as the police, but....

When Charles Read went to renew his passport, he got a notification that there was a warrant out for his arrest.

A woman named Katherine Jensen told police that Read (an ex boyfriend from 20 years ago) had kicked in her door and choked her out, trying to steal the keys to her truck, and when he was unsuccessful, he fled on foot.

At first Charles Read thought someone was pulling his leg, but you can understand why he didn't notice -- because he's been paralyzed from the waist down for 25 years.

But when Read tried to be a stand-up guy and go to the police station to straighten things out, he was arrested...

This man was arrested for kicking in a woman’s door, assaulting her, and running away. There was just one problem.
