2025 Red Sox and MLB Thread

The front orifice needs to Go too.

The owner is the problem. This front office is new, and has done some good along with the bad, while being saddled with the results of bad decisions made during Bloom's tenure. Story and Yoshida need to go, and a couple of other decisions need to be made about the everyday players, but the lineup should be much improved once the two remaining "kids" finally get brought up.

Design inspiration: The Green Monster has a unique aura at Fenway Park and that's what the Red Sox have tapped into with their latest design. Nicknamed "Fenway Greens," the uniform has "Red Sox" on the front in a font similar to the signature hand-painted lettering that appears on the Green Monster. There are other nods to the left-field wall, including three green lights and four red lights on the lower left of the jersey -- echoing the vintage ball, strike and out indicator.

Schoenfield's grade: A-. Boston's original City Connect jersey was a distinctive yellow-and-blue based on the Boston Marathon colors -- and it was one of the most popular CC jerseys, a nice contrast to the Red Sox's simpler traditional look. The Red Sox again have avoided any navy or red with a green jersey based on the Green Monster. And ... it works pretty well. There are few things in baseball more iconic than the left-field wall at Fenway Park. The Red Sox stuck to a simple design scheme as you would expect, but I suspect this jersey will be as popular as the yellow one.

The Baltimore Orioles fired manager Brandon Hyde on Saturday after a dismal start to the season by a team coming off two consecutive playoff appearances.

The Orioles are 15-28 and in last place in the AL East following a loss to Washington on Friday night. Hyde guided the team through an extensive rebuild and won manager of the year honors in 2023, but Baltimore’s performance slipped noticeably during the second half of last year, and the Orioles have put themselves in a significant hole so far in 2025...
