@Lord Maye Did you start? Granted I work a lot, I’ve now been playing this game for a week, sunk two days off into it, and played way later than I should have when I had to work the next day, I still really haven’t ventured off from the Hub, Squin just south of it, and whatever the city is called north of it with the religious guys. Laborer and athletics skills 50-80 across my four guys. One of them is still a complete combat bitch, and the other three took a few pipe beatings from hungry bandits and could now probably take them out with better gear.
Think I won my last two encounters with them last night (IIRC, was late) even though they still fucked me up. Started upgrading all their shit last night.
Your friend I’m sure can give you way more beginner info than I can, without ruining the game’s discovery, but definitely invest early money in a couple of recruits.
I spent a few days without. If you’re going to be leveling one guy with running around, strength, laboring, etc, you may as well be doing it for three.
Plus when you’re mining, you can have two or three guys doing the actual mining, and one (who you want with the highest strength) running back and forth to town to sell it.
Get wooden sandles for everybody. Adds an athletics XP gain multiplier.
Take some ass kickings from hungry bandits to raise your Toughness stat. This is why it’s also good to have a squad. Have one guy hiding behind rocks or far enough way, and give him the bulk of the medical supplies and food. After your team gets its faces beat in with the pipes, try to rob you for food but don’t get any because they aren’t carrying, and leave, you can run over to them, and bandage them up. Then bring them back to town for bedrest.
After you get your ass whipped a few times you can start to take ass whippings better which obviously sets you up for being able to learn how to fight.
