My favorite hymn is a beautiful reminder for us to turn our eyes away from earthly things and focus on our Savior instead. Always.

The woman who wrote this hymn has an amazing story. She was blind. She lost her sight as a young adult and her husband left her, not wanting to care for a newly blind wife. Struggling financially and emotionally, Helen Lemmel penned this song. She didn't have use of her eyes, yet she knew she had the only sight that truly mattered.

Read the lyrics. They are worth knowing. Check out Lauren Daigle's version at the bottom. Her voice is angelic.

Lyrics: Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

1. O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free! (Refrain)

(Refrain)
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

2. Thro’ death into life everlasting,
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion–
For more than conqu’rors we are!
(Refrain)

3. His Word shall not fail you–He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell! (Refrain)
