It's just smart.I mean I said this a long time ago when offenses went more pass happy especially with those emphasis rules and as practice time has eroded and pads are less used it behooves teams to be more run oriented. they're gonna have light boxes about 80% of the time anymore. I mean I don't know how many teams play nickel as their base defense,but it's a lot of them. Buffalo and Denver have really kind of lightish players up front on their defensive lines. People criticize bill a lot but I'll tell you he always liked having that big nickel guy for versatility. so you don't have to keep subbing out on defense and you're more prepared when quarterbacks change plays. I think that's even more important now that teams are playing with 2 linebackers basically. having one of those safeties like Rodney but even faster and quicker who can help in pass defense.
Buffalo needs to get some separation from Denver before long. If they keep letting the Donks hang in there, this could easily end in an upset. That’s how Denver has made a living this year. They’ve just kept the games close enough and the other defense has usually been gassed by the end of the game.
Allen should have gotten the 15-yard flag for that. That was a hospital ball.
Buffalo finishes a drive, and that makes it a 2 score game.
So, on 4th and 1, I understand the concept of keeping Allen contained. But when he’s outside of the pocket, you might want to head upfield and try to rush him. Don’t just stand there and let him take his time to find an open man downfield.
