With the league being down in its quality I figured we have a discussion on to why. The obvious ones being lack of practice and college has dumbed down, but one that's not talked about enough is all these players having podcasts and being social media merchants. Everyone is too buddy buddy nowadays
Oh and, as you say, the social media bullshit just adds another layer to it. A lot of guys care more about building their own personal “brand” than putting in the work. That’s fine. It’s your life. But it’s leading to a bad product.

I do like that the offenses have slowed down. As @Kontradiction noted, a lot of that is due to the mobile passers being adjusted to. A few rule changes / adjustments are needed:
1. Field goals are too easy. The crossbar should be raised and the goalposts narrowed. There isn’t much suspense anymore.
2. I’ve complained about this for years but I don’t like the “all or nothing” nature of defensive pass interference. It should be 10-15 yards unless there’s blatant obstruction. Games too often decided on under-thrown ducks or inconsistent judgment calls.
2a. On that same note, not every personal foul is equal and requires 15 yards tacked on or an automatic first down.
3. I hate QB protections when QBs are fake sliding or juking for extra yards. Needs to be cleaned up. QB should be down the moment the ref interprets he’s attempting to give himself up, not where his knee touches.
4. I’ll call this “The Mahomes Rule.” He takes the snap and simply shuffles to his left or right five yards to get “outside the pocket” and then can throw the ball away without intentional grounding. This isn’t what the rule was designed for. Indeed, the pocket changes due to this maneuver. Needs to be cleaned up.
The colleges are failing the NFL, in terms of getting the players ready. It's obvious at the QB position, but it's pretty much everywhere except WR and, maybe, CB. And, partially as a result of that.....
The NFL coaching is become more remedial and basic, both in terms of playcalling and player development
Most of the positions seem okay but the QB position is horrendous compared to a Brady/Peyton era or a Montana era etc, so it seems like the overall product sucks. Another anecdotal reason wins is a QB stat.
Anyway, a prime Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Bret Favre, Joe Montana, etc would destroy this entire league for like ten Super Bowl winning seasons straight. Not even sure there’s a QB with an aura strong enough to make even Peyton Manning choke a playoff game away.
The dumb ass low IQ running QB is a step backwards for the NFL. They emphasize rules for passing then go in an offensive direction that brings the league back to the stone age.
