I was pondering about a few things about the NFL
There really isn't generational defensive players like days past. Whose the last one? Aaron Donald? Besides him the players nowadays the elite ones dont really scream first ballot HOF to me. They too busy doing podcasts
Thoughts?

What constitutes a generational player in this case? First-ballot HOFer? Or are you talking one of the GOATs at his position?

First Ballot at the bare minimum
I have a hard time seeing Garrett as a first ballot

Wait. You said Joe f'n Thuney was a HOF'er, but you have doubts about Miles Garrett?

But i agree with your original premise about lack of elite D players. Just still perturbed by your Thuney take.

Just right off the top of my head, here are 3 no doubters:

Parsons
Watt
Garrett

TJ Watt, Maxx Crosby, and Chris Jones

Parsons? The talent is there but I think he needs a couple more elite seasons

He's got 52.5 sacks already, and he's still just 25 years old.

4 seasons, all double digit sack seasons, including his rookie (ROY) season.

He's arguably the most disruptive defensive player in the league right now, and he's been a top 5 defender from the moment he first played a game. So, I get your point, and I agree that he's got more years to go to flesh that all out, but let's at least call him well on his way.

He'd be even greater if he stopped that podcast BS

My racist Buckeye is up there but he injured too much
I think what’s throwing you off is the lack of an elite, shutdown corner right now. The best in the NFL currently would probably be Surtain, and he’s a far cry from prime Revis. The elite defensive players are in the trenches right now.

You may be right but I've yet to see a another Aaron Donald or to your point a Revis in his heyday.
