Song of the day.

" ON THIS DAY 58 YEARS AGO ...... JUNE 25th, 1967 " ..... To a worldwide international TV audience in excess of 400 million viewers in 25 countries ..... THE BEATLES performed " ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE " ...... on the first live, world-wide satellite programme ' Our World ' ..... The band's song was Britain's contribution ..... and came from a crowded Studio 2 at Abbey Road, St John's Wood in N.W.London ..... Many of their musician friends had been invited ....which included The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Marianne Faithfull, Keith Moon, Graham Nash and The Small Faces .....who added to the carnival atmosphere by joining in with the chorus ....as the studio filled up with balloons, streamers and signs bearing 'love' graffiti ..... John Lennon's lyrics had been deliberately kept fairly simple ..... to allow for the international audience .....and it all went off quite beautifully ....really capturing the spirit of that 1967 ' Summer Of Love ' ..... The disc hit no.1 in both Britain and America ......as well as 10 other countries ..... with global sales topping 3 million copies ......
