Long story short, with two kids under 5, I’ve been reading a lot lately. We don’t let them use tablets outside of 20 minutes/day for educational games and we don’t often let them watch TV. We also don’t want them to become accustomed to seeing us glued to our phones, so they turn into drooling idiots in the future. I’ve read the Talmud (really opened my eyes to why some of the powerful do what they do when their religious text is that specific) and I’m reading the Quran. Thought I’d share some interesting shit that I’m reading.
Muhammad encountered what he thought was Gabriel (Jibril). He describes him descending from Heaven with 600 wings. However, and I’ll quote here, he also describes Gabriel as “Created from light that fills the horizon with pearls raining from his wings.” Uh… brother… that sounds like Lucifer in our vernacular. Moreover, the Quran contends that all of the angels were made from light. Growing up in Catholicism and being a Christian, angels are pure, immaterial, maybe transparent. That’s not the case with Islam.
Oh, and Muhammad liked to rape boys. That’s a pretty big theme.
