That’s the kind of economy we need to get back to here.
There was a little hole in the wall place just off Magsaysay called Peso Jimmy's, where a bottle of San Miguel cost just that: one peso, which during my first time there in 1980, since the exchange rate at the time was about 12p/$1, was less than a dime - a fucking Dime... The rate maxed-out at 20p/$1 during my 1983 visit, though Jimmy had already raised the price to one peso 25 centavos during my second visit in '82 and to 1p50c by October '83... insane... Cold ones too, from a real fridge, not like the warm piss some other outdoor places tried to sell for cheap... I also got to watch in October 1980 there, on a 15-17" black & white tv, the Muhammad Ali - Larry Holmes fight, live, for free... Good times, good times...
