Pretty much what I'm thinking. They're at the "Throw a bunch of shit at the walls, and let's see what sticks" stage of things.
 
If the Patriots start Drake Maye week 1, they are in the battle for a playoff spot.

It's a good thing they wasted the first 5 weeks for absolutely no reason.
 
Can we lure any top FA WRs here with that brain dead millionaire’s tax? Only Massachusetts could come up with something so stupid. I think if Maye continues to look good, there should be some interest. We just may have to pay them a lot more than any other team.

It matters for sure, and that's on top of already high living costs with a very high tax burden.
