So it looks like Dugger, in order to facilitate the trade, allowed a renegotiation that would land him free agency in 2026. I care nothing about paying his salary this year.. we have a fuck-ton of cap. I just didn't want the team to be on the hook for future years, and this deal seems to have accomplished that.

2028 would be his 5th year option, so they will be negotiating with him most likely starting sometime in 2027.
