Isn't either appropriate? We are using American here, not English.

Ah, but the boy-toy may be no more than an object to me. Therefore, "that" is correct.A person is a who. An object is a that. It's true whether American English or British English.
I never correct grammar, but Gutsy called me into this so why not?![]()

(wondering how long this debate would last at Ian's House of Simp)
Well, well.
First - I have @Dingleberry defending pronoun related speech.
Second - Who said the boy-toy was alive. Rigor does last a while if the body is properly chilled.
This is something that always messes me up in italian because they never use "who"(chi). it's always "that"(che). the only time they use who is when they're asking a question and it falls at the beginning of the sentence.A person is a who. An object is a that. It's true whether American English or British English.
