Yeah, the NFL will always be a sport. That doesn’t mean that saturation, pussification, and being woke won’t prevent it from being knocked from the top spot when it comes to the major American sports, though.

Baseball is going all in on changing the game into short attention span theater. In fact, in 2025, the average baseball game was more than a half hour shorter than the average NFL game.

The real answer long-term is soccer.
- Continuous action
- Global relevance
- Younger demographics already leaning here
With things like:
- World Cup this summer
- Lionel Messi coming to MLS
- It’s growing fast in the U.S.
Fight sports (boxing, UFC)
- Short, high-stakes, dramatic
- Perfect for clips and viral moments
IMO, it’s not really about which sport.
It’s about format.
The next generation prefers:
- Highlights over full games
- Storylines over standings
- Stars over teams
- Moments over seasons
Modern soccer is more pressing now and high lines so the days of passing it continously back is over at least for now soccer goes through cycles

The bullshit post 911 to get in to see games along with how expensive they became was the crack. Camera gate got it rolling. that's when I stopped reading patriots' content on newspaper sites with any kind of regularity.2011 cba really started degrading the game even though I hated what the 04 emphasis rule did to the defenses. Ballghazi finished it off as far as purchasing anything for which i thought money was going to the n.F l. more games are now going on streaming sites that I am not going to pay for.
all these games going overseas, no way to develop players ( their getting rid of nfl europe pissed me off)and the quality of play declining because they keep adding games and taking away practice and some of these idiotic rule changes are also contributing to my malaise. in addition, watching undeserving people getting into the hall of fame over deserving people is a huge gripe of mine. the only thing that 's left is the enjoyment of the strategy and execution.
