NFL General News

The Raiders have 26 days until it becomes official. For now, it seems increasingly likely that Las Vegas will be using the first overall pick in the 2026 draft on Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza.

Appearing on Friday’s Pat McAfee Show, NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said that Mendoza is learning the Raiders’ offense, under the supervision of former NFL quarterback and assistant coach Brian Griese.
“Fernando Mendoza is working with Brian Griese right now, and it’s not so much that they’re working on footwork,” Jeremiah said, via Matt Holder of SB Nation. “They’re installing the Raiders’ offense. He’s full speed ahead. This is the same thing that happened with [Joe] Burrow, where you can use this time to really try and learn the core verbiage and concepts along with an offense.”...

The way the "experts" talk about this draft, there's going to be an early drop off in talent in the first round, but some depth in the "B" player area. If they're right, you might be better off if your team trades down and grabs extra picks.
To put it lightly, this draft is going to be a steaming turd compared to next year. Whether teams will be smart or not for it, there will be an early run on QBs. You want flexibility to move around on day 1 and day 2 next year.

This one? Eh. I’m not even going to bother writing blog posts about it. I’ll just react to the picks with my thoughts as they come in.

This year's draft actually sets up pretty well for the Patriots, because the 3 positions being touted as the strongest ("edge", linebacker, IOL) match up with Patriots' needs. If I were still doing deep dives into the draft, that's where I'd focus my attention.

They're bound and determined to ruin the goose that laid the golden egg, aren't they?

They know the people will keep coming back, because they have decades of proof.

Yes that's definitely what they're counting on.
They've already lost me as someone who pays for anything n.f.l. related.
But the fact of the matter is, they don't care about those of us who have loved the game for a long time. They care about pulling in new eyeballs and the whole gambling crowd. There's nothing wrong with trying to pull in a younger new audience because eventually we're all gonna die off, and they're gonna need to replace us. but they're getting dangerously close to the law of diminishing returns.

Two seasons, maybe three ... That's about all I got as an NFL fan if this keeps going.

if vrabel didnt become our coach and if Maye wasnt so likeable, i may have already moved on... although ill always frequent this board forever

i feel some loyalty to Vrabel, he's an OG and a great coach... and Maye is a very likeable, Josh Allenesque type QB

if we still had Mac Jones and Jerod Mayo, I'd start watching curling or something

Linebacker - unless it's one of the high-end ones with pass-rushing juice - shouldn't be a consideration until the 5th round of Day 3, after our other needs on defense have been addressed;

And IOL? Again?!? And ahead of Tackle?!?!? No fucking way. NO. FUCKING. WAY.

Linebacker is absolutely a need that should be considered for day 1 or 2, because this team needs one that can cover RBs. And, as far as IOL is concerned, Onwenu is up after this season. And you, of all posters here, should want the team to draft where the draft is strongest, as opposed to reaching based on positional need.
