NFL General News

NFL teams have an idea of the salary cap they will work with in 2026.

The league informed clubs on Friday that it is projecting a 2026 salary cap in the range of $301.2 million to $305.7 million per team, Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports.

That would represent another significant jump from this year’s $279.2 million cap number, and nearly $100 million more than the $208.2 million cap in 2022...

I must have missed that being posted. Sorry if it was a duplicate...

Not a problem at all; links are posted in more than one thread from time to time because of the significance they could have for both the league in general & the Patriots or Bills or Jete in particular... Didn't mean to sound snarky or anything; it wasn't a brilliant, details-driven reason that I gave anyway... 😆

More details have emerged about some NFL team owners’ unhappiness with the decision to feature Bad Bunny in the Super Bowl 60 halftime show.

Despite Bad Bunny’s status as one of the world’s most beloved music stars, the NFL has received plenty of criticism for choosing him as the headliner for the Super Bowl halftime show. President Donald Trump is among the notable critics, even stating that he won’t attend this year’s Super Bowl.

Unhappy with the NFL’s choice, Turning Point USA announced its plans for an alternative Super Bowl halftime show back in October. It remains to be seen who will perform in the show organized by the conservative nonprofit organization.

On Friday, ESPN’s Kalyn Kahler published a report detailing concerns from NFL owners about the halftime show decision. Specifically, one owner was worried that it could jeopardize their equity deal with ESPN:

“At least one owner met the decision to book Bad Bunny with skepticism, particularly considering the league’s pending agreement to sell the NFL Network and other assets to ESPN in exchange for a 10% stake in the media company.

Shortly after the Bad Bunny announcement, an NFL owner told Goodell that he feared the decision could threaten the government’s antitrust approval of the pending deal, a source with firsthand knowledge of the discussion told ESPN.”
The owner apparently went up to Commissioner Roger Goodell to tell him that, “he should’ve thought through that better.” Kahler was also told by one NFL executive that owners were against the halftime show decision. The reason is that “many were unfamiliar with” the Grammy Award-winning singer.

Despite plenty of angry calls and the aforementioned concerns from NFL owners, Roger Goodell has stayed firm on the Bad Bunny decision. In October, Goodell said the following on their halftime show headline performer, per Kahler:

“He’s one of the most popular entertainers in the world. It’s carefully thought through. I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism… We’re confident it’s going to be a great show.
Don’t forget how much backlash the NFL received when Kendrick Lamar was named the Super Bowl 59 halftime show headliner. And guess what? At 133.5 million viewers, it was the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show in history.

Since money and ratings are all that matter to most NFL owners? It would be best to wait and see the final viewership numbers for the Super Bowl 60 halftime show.

The NFL has started a new issue just days before the Super Bowl. The league named social media creator Dhar Mann as its first-ever Chief Kindness Officer. The decision quickly faced criticism. Many fans questioned the choice after learning about his past fraud conviction.

The NFL says it wants Mann to promote kindness and good sportsmanship around the Super Bowl. Super Bowl LX will take place next week in Santa Clara, California. The game will feature the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.

The league praised Mann as a positive and influential storyteller. It said his videos help people feel understood and connected. Mann responded by saying he is honored and excited to take on the role.

However, critics pointed to his legal past. In 2014, Mann pleaded no contest to five felony fraud charges. Prosecutors said he took city grant money meant for building improvements in Oakland. The court gave him five years of probation and ordered him to repay $44,399.

The NFL mentioned that Mann had setbacks in his past but did not share details about the conviction. That lack of detail led to more backlash on social media.

Controversial Past Meets New NFL Role

Mann built his early career in the marijuana business. He earned the nickname ganjapreneur. At the time of his legal troubles, he ran a real estate company and a luxury car rental firm. He also served as CEO of weGrow, a business known as the Walmart of Weed.

Reports from that period described bitter legal fights with business partners. Mann later paid his fines and finished probation early.

Today, he runs Dhar Mann Studios. The company produces short motivational videos for social media. His YouTube channel boasts more than 26 million subscribers. His videos have reached over 100 billion views across platforms.

Forbes recently ranked him No. 2 on its list of top creators for 2025. The magazine estimated his yearly earnings at $56 million.

Not all attention around his company stays positive. In 2023, some actors who worked for Dhar Mann Studios staged protests. They claimed the company underpaid them and treated them unfairly.

Mann pushed back hard. He said, “These protestors represent a small percentage of the thousands of actors we have and do not represent the views of all actors.”

He also added, “The protestors have said that I won’t meet with actors and did not show up for a planned meeting. That’s not true.” Moreover, he addressed “the misinformation being spread by protestors that we don’t pay our actors. This is 100 per cent not true.”

Now the NFL hopes his message reaches football fans. Supporters say his life story shows growth and change. Critics argue the league picked the wrong person to represent kindness.
