NFL General News

Yeah he wants what will probably be his last big payday, but he's going to be 30 in September.. Probably a bit of an overpay, definitely off of an outlier TD season. But if a good portion of it is active roster and incentive laden I'd do it.

That said, I think there's no chance we get him. We already signed the aging star WR, I think they are set baring injury this year. And I just think Washington will get it done eventually.. They cannot lose McLaurin with their young QB on a rookies deal.

we could still afford another top tier WR for another 3 years, before Maye is owed a real contract

If Maye is the real thing, these next 3 years are our best window to do some serious damage while he's on a rookie deal

Overpaid. He's one of the most overrated players in the league today.

he's definitely top 3 CB in the league and thats what top CBs are getting paid right now

At that price, you are absolutely correct

i dunno.. if you're going to pay a top CB you would want to pay Gardner

unless you believe an elite CB isn't worth the salary

Quick Vikings thoughts
Offense:
QB: J.J. McCarthy, Sam Howell, Brett Rypien
McCarthy’s the guy after his knee’s healed up, and he’s got the keys to Kevin O’Connell’s offense. Howell’s a solid backup with starter upside if he can clean up his turnovers. Rypien’s just there for emergencies.

RB: Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason, C.J. Ham, Zavier Scott
Jones is still a stud, but Mason’s addition from San Fran gives them a legit 1-2 punch. Ham’s a fullback who blocks like a lineman, and Scott’s a depth piece with some juice.

WR: Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Tai Felton, Jalen Nailor, Rondale Moore, Tim Jones
Jefferson’s the best in the game, no question. Addison’s WR2 but might miss a game or two if the league drops the hammer on that DUI. Felton, the rookie, could step up early with his speed. Nailor and Moore are fighting for scraps, and Jones is mostly a special teamer.

TE: T.J. Hockenson, Josh Oliver, Luke Bartholomew
Hockenson’s a top-tier tight end when healthy. Oliver’s a blocking beast, and Bartholomew, the new kid, adds depth and special teams value.

OL: LT Christian Darrisaw, LG Donovan Jackson, C Ryan Kelly, RG Will Fries, RT Brian O’Neill (Backups: Blake Brandel, Garrett Bradbury, Ed Ingram, Walter Rouse)
Darrisaw’s a monster when not banged up. Kelly and Fries, free agent pickups, solidify the interior with Jackson, the rookie stud. O’Neill’s steady at RT, and Brandel’s the Swiss Army knife off the bench.

Defense:
DL: Javon Hargrave, Harrison Phillips, Jerry Tillery, Taimani, Jonah Redmond
Hargrave’s a big-ticket signing and a game-wrecker inside. Phillips clogs the run, Tillery’s got some pass-rush pop, and the others are rotational guys.

EDGE: Jonathan Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel, Dallas Turner, Bo Richter, Gabriel Murphy
Greenard and Van Ginkel are Pro Bowl-level terrors off the edge. Turner’s ready to break out in year two under Flores. Richter and Murphy are young hustlers.

LB: Blake Cashman, Ivan Pace Jr., Eric Wilson, Kobe King
Cashman and Pace are a nasty duo—smart and fast. Wilson and King handle backup duties and special teams.

CB: Byron Murphy Jr., Isaiah Rodgers, Dwight McGlothern, Mekhi Blackmon, Jeff Okudah, Zemaiah Vaughn
Murphy’s locked in as CB1, and Rodgers brings speed. Okudah’s a wildcard—could shine or flop. McGlothern and Blackmon are scrapping for CB3, and Vaughn’s a depth guy. Still feels like they need one more corner.

S: Harrison Smith, Josh Metellus, Theo Jackson, Jay Ward
Smith’s still got it, and Metellus is a Swiss Army knife. Jackson steps up with Bynum gone, and Ward’s a special teams ace.

Special Teams:
K: Will Reichard
P: Ryan Wright
LS: Andrew DePaola
Same crew as last year. Reichard’s reliable, Wright’s got a big leg, and DePaola’s a pro.

Quick Take: Vikings went all-in on the trenches with Hargrave, Kelly, Fries, and Jackson. McCarthy’s the future, but they need him to stay upright behind that revamped line. Defense looks fierce with Flores scheming, but cornerback depth’s a question mark. Addison’s suspension risk could shake up the WR rotation early.

Vikings have a legit talented roster

would be nice to see them put it all together and start shaking things up in the NFC

The all blue Buffalo and yellow Chargers uni's above look like someone asked AI the create the ugliest uniforms possible.
Chargers home uniforms are the cleanest in the league though. I have to give TEMU Rams that.

I was told the Chiefs didn't have a Offensive Line when we played against them. Funny they had three pro bowlers, two of them being all pros. We put belt to ass to Mahomo
Try playing with your All Pro left guard as Left Tackle and see how quickly your offensive line diminishes. If we even mediocre LT level of play that day we'd win. Mahomes is inevitable

The Vikings will go as far as McCarthy will take them. Don't see them getting past the Lions or Packers. The Bears themselves have revamped their whole offensive line

If we weren't so hard-up for a QB at the time, I would've drafted Darrisaw instead of Corky Jones.

And I might've ran to the podium to call his name if Donovan Jackson had still been on the board at 38.

Eagles had one of the most dominate defensive line performances ever in that Superbowl, you could have had a 28 year old version of Jonathan Ogden and still got the bag beaten out of you that game

the entire starting line of the Eagles defense were elite, and they had like 2 elite depth players as well

No, even with a slightly better offensive line, the Eagles still would have won. The score would have been a little closer - maybe they win by 14 points or so, but the Eagles were not getting denied last year. For Kansas City to have won that game, they would have needed a much better offensive line at just about every position.

When Brady was there, it was "No excuses! He didn't get it done.". Now that it's Mahomes, it's "Look at all these excuses!". I've never seen it more ridiculous, or more obvious, than in the KC v. TB Super Bowl. That was even worse than the worst of the Manning years, where the excuses were at least mostly confined to blaming the Colts defense.

Just stop. You've blamed injuries and refs plenty of times for Pats losses.

The Chiefs beat Brady during the regular season in 2020 when they had no injuries on their offensive line. It's not a stretch to think they would have done it again if their offensive line were healthy in the super bowl. And the Chiefs did it again in 2022 to Brady, with a healthy line.

Not sure about that.
Bowles stopped going full retard and gave Dean help on Hill in that second half of the regular season game in 2020 and the Chiefs slowed down in the 2nd half.
Ironically if the Kermit of today played that SB from 2020 they would've had a better shot
This Kermit is more patient the one back then was more highlight reel

I believe that Sauce Gardner has not shown himself to be an elite CB at the 30+ million per year level. And I think the only team in the NFL that would disagree with me is the one that gave him that contract.
