NFL General News

AFC East is probably going to be fucking horrendous this year. We’re so bad post-Brady it’s been dominated by a capable version of Tim Tebow.

Miami is going to be terrible and the Jets are going to be even worse. New England is a complete unknown despite high hopes. Hard to look at Raiders, Dolphins, Steelers, Panthers, and not say 4-0 is possible heading into the week #5 Buffalo game but I still obviously have lingering Dynasty era delusions creeping back now that Mac Jones is gone.

If Drake Maye could roll into that Buffalo game 4-0 and win that would be some franchise quarterback shit.

Las Vegas Raiders running back Raheem Mostert had some strong words for his former team on Monday.
In the wake of the blockbuster trade that sent Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Minkah Fitzpatrick and a late-round pick swap, Mostert ripped the Miami Dolphins for treating star players poorly:

Miami parting ways with the 30-year-old Ramsey was inevitable and has been a storyline all offseason, and both his and Smith's departure came down to financial considerations. By trading Ramsey, the Dolphins cleared about $19 million off their books this season.

Smith, meanwhile, was a first-time Pro Bowler last season (88 catches, 884 yards, eight touchdowns) and was seeking an extension and a raise. The 29-year-old would have made a base salary of $3.4 million with the Dolphins in 2025, but instead signed a one-year, $12 million extension with Pittsburgh after the trade.

The Dolphins not only freed themselves from contract situations they clearly weren't interested in maintaining, they also landed a three-time All-Pro safety in the process, and one who is younger (28) than both Ramsey and Smith. All in all, it wasn't terrible business.
But it's easy enough to see how a player like Mostert might still be aggrieved with the organization. The 33-year-old was released in February after playing a much more limited role with the team in 2024 (278 rushing yards, two touchdowns), largely replaced by the younger and more talented De'Von Achane (907 rushing yards, six touchdowns).
Mostert parlayed his fantastic 2023 season (1,012 rushing yards, 21 total scores) into a restructured contract ahead of last season, though the Dolphins cut ties one year later. From Mostert's perspective, the Dolphins are ditching their top players, though the Dolphins likely see it as massaging some much-needed cap flexibility by cutting ties with older players.

Mostert is a JAG and was a product of the system. But trading Ramsey when their defense is trash and Smith who played well in that offense are major mistakes. At least they got back Fitzpatrick, but his cliff is coming soon.

Pats aren't finishing less than 2nd this season and Dolphins will move on from McDaniel after the offense crashes and burns for the 4th straight season.
