There's also the flipside to this... I've smoked a putt from just off the green, just absolutely crushed it and it hit the flag and dropped in. if the flag was out it would've gone right over the hole, off the green and right into the woods on the other side. Golf luck is crazy. I like slicing it into the woods only to hit a tree and bounce right into the middle of the fairway... though that is rare.
