So, we had our first of the multiple (3 this year) "Christmas week" gatherings this past weekend. Note to all:

Well cooked and tasty steak tips are always appreciated, and are a great way to avoid having to bring your leftovers home.

I don't know if anyone else has this issue of what dish to bring something in when you have to take something to someone's house. i usually don't stay till the end of the party.I don't want to bother the host or hostess with, "hey, can I get my dish and wash it out?And can i scoop the leftovers into something else so I can take my dish back?" I spend sometimes more time pondering that than I do what to make. A lot of times I will make something in my glass baking dishes. I will get a cheap aluminum pan from the dollar store and throw it in there and throw it back in the oven to finish, or whatever then, transport it to the other house that way. now I don't have to worry about getting my dish back at the end of the night and they can just store the leftovers and eat them later.

For the next party i'm going to that i am bringing food to,I decided to make cream cheese veggie pizza so I don't have anything to take that in. what I did was buy a festive platter at the dollar store. I am going to cut it into slices and put it on that for transport. this way, the hostess does not have to do any prep on it or worry about what to serve it on. it looks festive sitting on her table for guests. once again, she can keep the platter and throw it out if she pleases.

If it's a family function, I usually leave the pan and get it later, since I've accumulated backups for most of them over the course of time. If it's not a family function, or I know I'm making something for a relative from far away, I find something disposable or replaceable in advance.

Why do you hate the people you're going to visit?

It's cold. I don't know if that matters or if you just hate cream cheese. i have a friend who makes a different version of it.But I can't ask her for the recipe because the poor soul is in the hospital
