NFL GameDay Divisional Round GDT - Bills/Broncos, 49ers/Seahawks, Rams/Bears

GameDay Discussion
I think the Bills are going to be the first upset over the Broncos. Denver has to them away early so the defense can tee off on Allen. If it's close, Broncos will lose this time.

I really want to pick the 49ers in an upset, but they have way too many injuries on both sides of the ball. Maybe if Pearsall plays it can give them a boost, but I'd just smother McCraffrey and flat and force Purdy to test the boundaries.

Who's Allen going to throw to?

Go NFC team. All the AFC teams that are left besides the Texans are my worst nightmare of teams I hate.

I get Denver and New England, but why Buffalo when they've been your bitch? They haven't beaten the Chiefs in a playoff game since 1993

I can't and won't accept the possibility of Allen getting a ring. Talks will get annoying in sports media

Allen's a choke artist and will end up with as many rings as the previous Bills choke artist Jim Kelly.

Who's Allen going to throw to?
They'll probably run a ton of 12 personnel. Kinkaid, Knox, Shakir, Cooks, Coleman, and possibly our old friend Christion Wilkerson. They are thin as fuck. I think Cooks becomes their de facto #1.

Buffalo Bills at Denver Broncos (-1) | 4:30 p.m. ET Saturday, CBS

I went back and forth on this one. The Bills destroyed the Broncos a year ago in the playoffs, but that didn’t move us in either direction. Josh Allen is a little banged up, but was surgical in ousting the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. This should be a much tougher challenge. The Broncos are third in the NFL in pressure rate (39.6 percent) and third in sack rate (11.1 percent) without blitzing, and Allen had a tough time this season against that type of defense (the Eagles, Texans and Browns). He didn’t throw a touchdown in those games as the Bills went 1-2.

However, the Broncos’ defense has been slumping for a while, and this is a bad matchup given Allen likes to throw to his tight ends and running backs. The Broncos led the NFL in third-down defense through their Week 12 bye (29 percent) but ranked 22nd over their final six games (42 percent). And they ranked 15th in yards per attempt allowed (6.4) on targets to running backs and tight ends during the regular season.

We have no idea what to expect from Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, but we are fairly certain Denver won’t be able to take advantage of the Bills’ poor run defense. And Joey Bosa bounces back after the Bills coaches singled him out for a rough game last week.

The pick: Bills

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks (-7.5) | 8 p.m. ET Saturday, Fox

In many ways, the 49ers are the perfect opponent for the Seahawks. Seattle’s defense was too physical for the Niners two weeks ago. Though left tackle Trent Williams is back, tight end George Kittle is out, and the Niners average 3.4 yards rushing without him, as opposed to 4.1 with him.

The wild card is Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, and that was before he got hurt this week in practice. Darnold led the NFL with 20 turnovers (14 interceptions, six fumbles lost) — the first time in 47 years a player on a No. 1-seeded team has done so. And … he has had a drop-off. After averaging 9.9 yards per attempt over the first half of the season, Darnold is down to 7.2 over the last eight weeks.

But the 49ers’ defense is short-handed again, and the Seahawks ran the ball for 180 yards against San Francisco two weeks ago, which sets them up nicely. Darnold ranked second in the NFL in yards per attempt (11.4) and EPA per dropback (0.3) when using play-action. Meanwhile, the 49ers rank 29th in EPA per dropback against play-action since Week 15 (-0.3), worst among any team to reach the playoffs.

The pick: Seahawks

Los Angeles Rams (-3.5) at Chicago Bears | 6:30 p.m. ET Sunday, NBC

Avenge your brother, Mike LaFleur. The Rams’ offensive coordinator surely got some help in preparing for rude Ben Johnson and the Bears. It shouldn’t be too hard, as the only thing the Bears do well defensively is create turnovers (league-high 31), and it’s hard to rely on that. Plus, the Rams have the fourth-lowest turnover rate since their Week 8 bye (8 percent of drives).

The Rams will be able to throw the ball and run the ball, and if the weather decides to make an impact, they can get big and push the Bears around. They used 13 personnel on only 32 percent of snaps in their win over the Panthers, down from their NFL-high 56 percent usage rate during the final five weeks of the regular season.

Caleb Williams was 7 of 13 for 166 yards and a touchdown on passes of 15 or more air yards last week, but that will be hard to duplicate against a talented Rams defense that is angry it didn’t play well last week.

The pick: Rams

A NFL Dynasty’s spite has far reach and never forgets anything. Welcome to the Big Boy club.

I've been asking that for years, but he seems to find some asshole to catch the ball. Allen is also going to use his legs a lot today.

Take it as a compliment like that the only way Allen get even get to a Super Bowl is without the Chiefs in their way. This was like Pittsburgh to NE in the 2000's. There would've been no way they would've made it in 2005, 2008 and 2010 had they faced the Patriots.

It is insane. Can't imagine 3 years ago thinking the Hawks lose the game if sam darnold does not play.

Hope he plays and kills the 49ers...just because.....Fuck the Jets.
