Reports are that they inquired about him a little while back and were told that he's not getting traded. Maybe this "demand" will change things.

Why? If he was going somewhere, that would already have happened. He's already shit on the trade options that were available to him. Now it's just a matter of time until he shows up for the 49ers, because he's not going to sit out the entire season.

I hear you, but there aren't enough competitors in the NFC to keep the 49ers out of the playoffs, and Aiyuk will either have a new deal or be playing for a new contract. Either way, it's a win for the 49ers, because Aiyuk overplayed his hand.
His refusing to take the trades offered showed that this is just a money holdout.

As @Deus Irae mentioned, the Aiyuk ship has sailed. He's had his options, but wouldn't take it. The Patriots were going to pay him a shit ton of money, but he flat out didn't want to go there.
I think he's going to play his final year in SF at this point. History has shown players sitting out seasons doesn't end up working well.
