PepsiCo on Thursday reported quarterly earnings and revenue that topped analysts' expectations as its struggling North American food business reported a return to volume growth.
Shares of the company rose slightly in premarket trading.
Here's what Pepsi reported compared with what Wall Street was expecting, based on a survey of analysts by LSEG:..
...For the first time in more than two years, Pepsi's North American food business reported an increase in volume. The division, a combination of its North American Frito-Lay and Quaker Oats units, has faced pushback from consumers for hefty price rises when inflation spiked in 2022.
In February, Pepsi cut prices on Lay's, Tostitos, Doritos and Cheetos by as much as 15% to try to win back shoppers, and many retailers rewarded the company by giving them more shelf space. The efforts are paying off already...
Apple
said on Monday that John Ternus is succeeding Tim Cook as CEO, with Cook assuming the role of executive chairman on Sept. 1.
Ternus, a senior vice president of hardware engineering, will join Apple's board of directors when he becomes chief. Apple's non-executive chairman Arthur Levinson will become the iPhone maker's lead independent director at that time.
"Cook will continue in his role as CEO through the summer as he works closely with Ternus on a smooth transition," Apple said in a press release...
The grocery store chain Aldi announced that it would be eliminating more than 40 ingredients, including artificial sweeteners, coloring, and preservatives, from its “private label” products by the end of 2027.
In a press release on Wednesday, the company shared that an additional 44 ingredients would be removed from its “private label food, vitamin and supplement products.” Among the ingredients being removed from the products are artificial preservatives, colors, flavors, and sweeteners.
“At the heart of our private label products is a commitment to listening to our customers and continually improving the products they bring into their homes,” Scott Patton, who serves as Aldi’s Chief Commercial Officer, said in a statement. “Based directly on customer feedback, we are proud to take meaningful steps to make it even easier for families to fill their carts with confidence by delivering simpler ingredients while continuing to provide the quality and value they expect from ALDI.”
Among the list of 44 ingredients Aldi will be removing are Acesulfame K; Bromated Flour; Butylparaben; Calcium Bromate; Canthaxanthin; Methylparaben; Potassium Bromate; Potassium nitrate; Propylene Oxide, and Titanium Dioxide.
Other ingredients being removed include Sucroglycerides, Sodium propionate, Sodium hydroxide, Potassium metabisulphite, and Advantame...
