2026 Draft and Free Agent news

What’s your specific issue? They’re both burners. My preference would be Concepcion. What are you looking for? A possession/jump ball guy like Denzel Boston?

Branch is too small; and in the case of the other two, there's no way I'm drafting a WR with my first pick. My eyes are on UConn's Skyler Bell at the end of the 3rd round...

Agree on Branch’s size. He’s similar to Pop and Williams in terms of attributes. That’s why I asked you about Boston. I don’t think we will target Bell simply because he can’t block worth a damn. I also don’t think he’s 6’0”. He looks more around 5’10” or 5’11”.

No burning lower round picks on wide receivers this year. That's the worst position to be targeting that way. If you want to look for lower round help with pass catching, look at TEs and 3rd down backs. But the only WR that should be picked is the top round WR that the team is "positive" will be a big time player no later than year 2.

The end of the 3rd round is still within the top 100. I wouldn't consider that "burning lower-round picks."

They have last year's 3rd round WR pick still on the roster, so I would absolutely consider it burning lower-round picks.

lance zierlein's positional depth chart for the draft.I like him.I also like rick gosslin, but his stuff is behind a paywall if I remember correctly.

He’ll last a few weeks before he gives way to Mendoza. That’s if he even wins the job out of camp.
if they're smart, they'll sit that kid all season and let cousins play. But I thought last year before the season that if the Vikings were smart they would have franchised Sam darnold and let JJ
Recover from his a c l and learn for a year.

Mendoza is not really comparable to McCarthy. Better body of work in college and his ball placement is elite from the pocket.

I was only trying to compare the situations, not the players because I don't watch nearly enough college football to have an educated opinion on them as players in college.I'm just not a big believer in putting a quarterback on the field as a starter when he's a rookie for the most part.

I get it. It just depends on the rookie. Brady himself admitted that he wasn’t ready to start in his rookie year.

Well, my other thought is because there's so much less preparation time than there was pre 2011 cba. that's one reason why I was glad that 09 was the last year of the absolutely exorbitant contracts for rookie players particularly quarterbacks. it made the 2011 cutbacks and practice time and offseason time a little less onerous for rookies. schemes could "afford" better to let guys sit then, they could pick up their fifth year option if needed if they were a first rounder and prolonged the evaluation period.
